Furō was founded by John Tran and Hung Dinh in 2019 to help organisations streamline their business and operations with modern ways of working. Leveraging Agile, Lean and DevOps principles, our mission is to help organisations do what they do, better, so that they can provide better value for their customers.
The name Furō is a Japanese word which means “flow”. For us, this perfectly embodies our goal to improve the flow of how things get done in an organisation, removing bottlenecks and obstacles to enable free and efficient progress.
John and Hung have over 30 years experience between them working for Tier 1 global consulting firms to shape and deliver complex business and technology solutions. They met while working for Accenture in 2007 on one of Australia’s largest IT transformation programmes.
Since then, John and Hung have constantly been looking for new ways to help their clients work better and deliver more value, leveraging Agile ways of working with DevOps solutions. Fast forward 12 years, Furō was launched with the vision of creating a company with the right culture from the ground up to enable us to serve and support our customers better.
We take an outcomes-based approach to our work and are committed to delivering measurable value for our clients. Our goal is to deliver elegant and sustainable solutions with a mind to making it as easy and pain-free as possible for our clients to continue to maintain and enhance themselves.
This starts with “Why?” - before we do anything else, we will always start by making sure we understand you, your company and what it is you are trying to achieve in both short and long term, and why. By doing this, we can be confident in providing you with a solution that is right for you and delivers the outcomes you need.
We won’t just deliver you a solution and leave you to fend for yourself. We will work with you to show you what we did and why, arming you with the knowledge you need to continue to maintain and get the most from the solution.
Finally, it is also important to have the right culture and mindset that will enable you to break down organisational silos and improve collaboration and flow. With our blend of Agile and technical DevOps expertise, we help to instil modern ways of working alongside proven technical solutions for a successful DevOps transformation.
Our Core Values
We absolutely believe that building a great company that people want to work for and clients want to work with, starts with its culture. A culture that welcomes people of all walks of life and provides them with an environment that stimulates creativity, allows them to enjoy what they do and motivates them to do their best work.
Our culture starts with our core values that we live and breathe every day. Our way of life.
Simply put, we are really passionate about what we do!
We are hungry to learn and always looking for opportunities to continue to improve and hone our craft by building continuous improvement into our daily routine.
Passion for our craft
Doing right by YOU
We will always deliver on the commitments we make whether that’s to our clients, our partners, or our people.
Our actions will always be guided by our effort to do the right thing and we will conduct ourselves with honesty and authenticity.
Making a difference
We come to work each day with one clear goal in mind - to help make a positive difference.
We focus on how to create outcomes and value for our clients and the community, rather than simply outputs.
Meet the Founders
A bit about myself: I was born and grew up in the UK after my parents fled war-torn and communist Vietnam in search of a better life for myself and my three siblings. My biggest source of inspiration comes from my parents, from who I get my determination, gratitude and passion for helping others.
I graduated from the University of Bristol in 2003, with a 1st Class Masters Degree in Computer Science and moved to Melbourne in 2007 where I met my wife Emi.
I’ve been working in Technology Consulting for 15 years now, most of that time with Accenture and PwC. Throughout this time I have helped companies in UK, Hong Kong and Australia to shape and deliver complex and large scale transformation programmes. Before launching Furō, I spent 2 years in London building and running a successful Agile and Cloud consulting practice.
I’m passionate about helping clients find ways to deliver extraordinary outcomes. I understand first hand the challenges faced by organisations looking to implement new technologies while leveraging new and better ways of working.
How I like to spend my spare time: I love being outdoors, whether it’s camping and trekking, playing golf, or simply walking the dogs in the park. I’ve recently started getting into meditation which helps to keep me calm, focused and refreshed!
I’m also a big Formula One racing fan, and can be found glued to a tv screen every other Sunday evening (annoyingly for my wife, even when I’m on holiday!).
My favourite quote: Nelson Mandela - “You never lose - you either win or you learn”. I love this quote as it reminds you to embrace failure because it provides some of our biggest learning opportunities.
A bit about myself: I was born in Malaysia and immigrated to Melbourne Australia after my parents fled the war in Vietnam to build a better future.
Before launching Furō, I was a Director at Accenture DevOps practice serving clients in the Asia Pacific region for over 12 years. I specialise in DevOps, Cloud and Security disciplines - helping organisations become lean, innovative and secure though modern ways of working. I have overseen the implementation of many major transformation programs.
I am passionate about technology and how it can be used to its full potential to solve business problems.
I hold a Bachelor of Applied Science majoring in Software Engineering from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology.
How I like to spend my spare time: I’m usually hiding away in a cafe in Melbourne somewhere reading about the latest trends in technology.
My favourite quote: “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together” -- African Proverb.
Fun fact: I got to meet Hyorin Kim lead singer from SISTAR KPOP group gave me a high-five at their concert in Seoul. I have not washed my hand since...
